TRESTLE is a studio for architecture and research based in Ireland and London. We define architecture as landscapes, cities, buildings, rooms and objects. Our practice creates highly situated work across these scales.

TRESTLE was founded by Sarah Carroll and Tom Cookson.

Tom Cookson is a Design Fellow at University College Dublin, and leads a fourth year design studio at the Cork Centre for Architectural Education. He has taught and been a guest critic at a range of schools in the UK and Ireland. Prior to establishing TRESTLE, Tom worked with Hall McKnight for 10 years. As an Associate leading the London studio, he led a range of significant projects from inception to completion. Tom’s book, Shallow Time was co-published in 2023 by DPR Barcelona and the IAF.

Sarah Carroll is an Assistant Lecture at MTU/UCC, and has previously taught at the Cork Centre for Architectural Education. Prior to establishing TRESTLE, Sarah worked for Hall McKnight.
