Heath Park

Our masterplan proposal is for a place that celebrates the age-old rhythms of nature, weather, community and wild things while supporting and encouraging technological innovation. Our design deliberately acts as an antidote to the abstract and non-tangible aspects of the digital economy through a relentless pursuit for physicality and beauty. The architectural proposals celebrate the embodied experience of crafted spaces, places and things. Heath Park's future as a sustainable driver within the Liverpool City Region Knowledge Economy was explored in the proposal for a collaborative campus that harnesses tradition and technology.

This project was announced runner up in a RIBA International 2 Stage Competition in 2021.

Collaborators: Arup, Hatch RegenerisClarke Energy and artist Nina Salsotto Cassina.

Landscape structures the social and physical transformation of the site. A landscape-led development has the ability to synthesize the cultural, social, political and infrastructural ambitions of the project by setting a clear hierarchy between natural systems and the built environment.

Our proposal for Heath Park harnesses the potential of the space between technology and tradition, between people and nature.

When considering the pattern of development across the masterplan, we referenced the contrada (districts) within the city of Siena. Each characterised with colourful insignia, these human scaled communities are held together by their histories and sense of civic pride. Each contrada is distinguished with a church, a museum, a fountain and piazza. These support highly ritualised civic patterns which contribute to strong social and inter-generational bonds.
